Who makes PicButler
PicButler is made by Chris, an independent developer, and published by Herenow Software LLC. It launched on the App Store in March 2026.
It started as a duplicate photo cleaner. Cleaning turned out to be only half the job: what people want is to find their best moments again and keep them. So PicButler now works through your library one moment at a time, and the space you get back is the side effect.

Does PicButler upload my photos?
No. PicButler analyzes your photos on your iPhone and they never leave it. It asks only for access to your photo library, plus notifications if you want them.
How is PicButler different from the Duplicates album in Apple Photos?
Apple's Duplicates collection merges copies of the same photo. PicButler also groups photos that are similar but not identical, like several takes of the same pose, picks the best one by sharpness, lighting and resolution, and tells you why it won. Read the full comparison.
Does PicButler use AI?
It uses Apple's on-device image analysis to group similar photos and to score sharpness, lighting and faces. It never generates or retouches your photos, it shows why it picked each one, and you always make the final call.
What happens to the photos I delete?
They go to the Recently Deleted album in Apple Photos, where you can recover them for 30 days. PicButler never deletes anything without your confirmation.
